Where is the drive belt routing diagram? ›

A: Commonly a belt routing diagram sticker is on the underside of the hood or in the engine compartment. If there is no diagram, make a sketch of the belt and pulleys before removing the belt. This will help you re-route the new belt correctly.

Push down on the deck baffle to access the engine pulley. Slide the drive belt off this pulley and out from under the deck. Replace with a new lawn mower drive belt. Work it between the deck and the baffle.

A common cause of belt breakage is excessive grass clippings on the deck. Grass clippings can work their way under pulleys and deck covers, causing series problems. Make sure to clean off your deck after every mower use and follow manufacturer recommendations.

This can be a result of aggressive riding, towing heavy loads, or inadequate ventilation in the belt housing. Belts running at over 200 degrees for an extended period of time will cause the belt to fail.
